Frequently asked questions
Which submission should I choose?
The difference is how wide the distribution goes, not the genre. BloodStream only takes horror and horror-adjacent titles, and a BloodStream submission places your title on BloodStream alone. Studio Dome DIRECT takes horror too, along with every other genre, and handles full or partial distribution, worldwide or North America only, across downstream channels such as Tubi and Pluto TV, partner channels such as BloodStream and FoundTV, and buyers worldwide.
Do I keep ownership of my film?
Yes, in both cases. You are licensing distribution rights for a set term. Ownership of the film stays with you.
Should I submit to both?
No. Pick one. A Studio Dome DIRECT submission already includes the downstream channels such as Tubi and Pluto TV, and partner channels such as BloodStream and FoundTV. A BloodStream submission is only for the BloodStream service.
Can I decide later?
Yes. Choose either one now and you can change your mind later.
How and when do I get paid?
Both agreements pay quarterly, within 45 days of the end of each calendar quarter, by electronic transfer to the payee details you supply. Balances under $100 roll forward to the next quarter. BloodStream pays 50% of net subscription revenue based on minutes watched plus 50% of ad revenue from your film. Studio Dome DIRECT pays you gross receipts less a 20% distribution fee, waived entirely on our owned and operated platforms and networks including BloodStream, and no expenses are deducted without your written approval. Both give you real-time reporting.
What do I need to deliver?
A high-quality video file (MP4 or MOV, 16:9, at least 12 Mbps at 1080p), English closed captions (SRT or VTT), key art in 2:3 and 16:9 ratios, and metadata such as synopsis, year, cast and crew, runtime, genre and rating. You upload the film and artwork as part of the submission, and we can prefill most metadata from IMDb.
What kinds of content do you accept?
BloodStream accepts features, shorts, episodic series, verticals, vertical shows and podcasts, as long as they are horror or horror-adjacent. Studio Dome DIRECT focuses on features and episodic series in any genre, horror included.
How long does the review take?
BloodStream submissions are reviewed as they come in, and most get a decision within minutes. Studio Dome DIRECT is selective, and a decision usually takes two to three weeks. Either way, you will hear back by email.
Can I take my film down later?
BloodStream removes a film within seven days of a written takedown request, and the one-year term can be ended with 30 days' notice. Studio Dome DIRECT runs for three years from release, then renews yearly until either side gives 120 days' notice. We can make exceptions in special circumstances.
Will my film be used in promotion?
Yes. Both agreements let us use short clips, trailers, artwork and your title in trailers, social clips, newsletters and showcases that promote your film or the service. Promotional use is royalty-free and limited to advertising your film.
